Animal Rights and Veganism

Hey everyone!

As Many of you know, I am a vegan, and have been since July of 2015. My Mom and I started our journey to veganism for health issues, and figured we would both be each other’s support system if one of us was struggling. We all know we all go through some kind of diet phase, or fad in our lifetime, and I definitely thought it would be one of those. Boy was I wrong!

The first couple of weeks were tough especially because I have been a meat eater, dairy fanatic for the last 25 years of my life ( plus I’m italian) which doesn’t make it any easier. A lot of meat, pasta, cheese was consumed by me and my family on a daily basis. We always thought,” Hey meat is good for you, we need our protein, and milk gives us strong bones!” Everything we learned our whole lives was a big lie, and we were in awe.

One thing I noticed since going vegan was the negativity all of a sudden being thrown at me. If people found out I was vegan, I would be questioned almost as though I was taking a test, that even if I passed, no matter what I said, I would fail because people do not want to hear or believe the truth. Since going vegan, my skin is clearer than ever, my hair is growing like crazy, and has a beautiful shine to it, I lost weight without even trying. Also my Mom proved to her Doctor that she didn’t need to take pills for her cholesterol or blood pressure anymore.

Once My Mom and I discovered actual positive changes, we’ve never turned back to meat again. No cravings for it, nothing. Then after seeing beneficial changes, I did more research, watched documentary after documentary about veganism, animal agriculture, animal rights etc. I 100 % believe no animals should ever be mistreated. Great documentaries I watched from Netflix is:

  • Cowspiracy
  • Forks Over Knives
  • Fed Up
  • Food Inc.
  • Vegucated
  • Blackfish
  • Meat The Truth
  • Food Matters

These are just a few to name. The best Ive ever watched that really sunk in was on YouTube called ” The Best Speech You Will Ever Hear” By Animal Activist Gary Yourofsky. Available in different languages also. Here is the link–>

Another great organization that provides safe, healthy living for farm animals is–> <— they accept donations as well to help with supplies, medication, food for the animals.

98% of animals who are abused and killed on this planet, are abused and killed by the meat, dairy, and egg industries. This is where all the harm takes place!” And in America, from birth until death, each meat eater consumes around 3000 land animals, and thousands of other marine animals. Those are USDA stats.”- Gary Yourosky

“Are you aware that physiologically the human body is actually 100% herbivorous? Plant eaters. The length of our intestines are somewhere between 7 to 13 times the length of our torso, our trunk. That’s the same length of all herbivore animals intestines on this planet. The length of a true meat eater like hyenas, coyotes, bears, tigers, lions is only 3 to 6 times the length of their torso. They have a short intestinal tract, so they can push through quickly, decaying, rotten animal flesh: Animal protein, cholesterol, saturated fat, trans-fatty acids which is why its impossible for any genuine meat eater to ever clog their arteries.”- Gary Yourosky

These are just very few facts that Gary Yourofsky presents in his speech ” The Best Speech you’ll Ever Hear.” I urge you to educate yourself.
